We have released some updates for MPP Manager.

1) SMTP Policy Server is now supported in GUI for Exim as well as Postfix. This article describes how to use a Postfix Policy Server with Exim for SMTP access delegation.

2) Email Import Improvements — Import a directory of MBOX files, improved handling of large emails. Now you can import all MBOX from a directory into an MPP Email Archive.

3) Introduction of SQL migration scripts to support new SQL formats. Better handling of MySQL in MPP GUI.

4) Improved tool tips.

We have improved MPP Manager’s ability to index and search email by adding support for MS Office documents. These improvements will be in our virtual appliance shortly and they are available immediately via FTP. Here is a knowledgebase article that explains these improvements.

We have added support for custom reject notices and defer action in MPP for Qmail. We have added this via the custom patch from shupp.org. Please contact us if you would like to implement.

We have some very interesting developments in our email import abilities. In our new design when MPP Manager imports email it is
journaled to mppd for processing before it is archived. In our old scheme we imported email directly to the archive and all the functionality that mppd provides was lost. Bottom line is that now you can import email from your IMAP server, mbox, Maildir or PST and process it within MPP before archive.

Here are some applications for this new ability:

- Add digital signatures for tamper proof archives

- Flag interesting email during import

- Rescan for spam before archive to reduce the size of your archive

- Strip attachments to reduce the archive

- Single instance storage of attachments

To use this new functionality on the import page select ‘Import to
Journal Account’. We are using the Exchange 07 journal format to send
email to mppd.

We have introduced a fix within mppd for some corner cases for MS Exchange 07 journaling email archiving where the sender address is not properly processed. This fix is available in mppd 4.9.1.

In addition, MPP Green can regularly purge long-dated email from a live standards-based mail server – because the mail is backed up in the archive – and thereby reduce mailbox size which increases end-user access speed.
